About Removable Drive
Defense
Removable Drive Defense detects and logs new drives that are added to the system and can
optionally prevent unauthorized access to any newly added drives. With USB drives available,
small enough to be carried on a keychain, a new risk evolves, which can pose a potential threat
to privacy and security. Windows 2000 and Windows XP will install these tiny storage devices
without requiring any drivers, so anyone can just plug-in a USB drive and copy files onto or from
the computer in a matter of seconds. Removable Drive Defense allows you to restrict access by
either locking down the workstation as soon as removable drive is connected, or by several types
of notification. The program can detect newly added Removable Drives, Fixed Drives, Network
Drives, CD-Rom Drives and RAMDisks. Evaluation version only offers warning messages. Registered
versions also log file/folder names copied to any new removable drives added to the system.
Removable Drives such as the USB Drives and all it's copy-caters
pose a tremendous risk to personal computer privacy and security.
Windows 2000 and Windows XP will install these storage devices without
requiring any drivers.
What does this mean?
It takes about 30 seconds to copy multiple files from your
hard-drive onto one of these disks. (which now come in the STD flavor of 128mb.
(and up to 2 GIG). Once the drive is removed - there is no record of the copy -
or the addition of a new storage device on the system.30 Seconds and your
credit card numbers or password files are in the hands of someone else. 30
seconds and the latest design files for your companies latest product are
now in-secure. 30 seconds and hundreds of your emails and address book
entries are stolen!
